CSI Calendar image for February 2014

The calendar image for February was produced by Dr.-Ing. Sven Grundmann and M.Sc. Daniel Freudenhammer from the group Drag and Circulation Control (DCC). It shows the isovelocity surfaces during cylinder inflow measured via Magnetic Resonance Velocimetry using a 3 Tesla MR-Scanner.

    Soft surfaces delay frost growth

Demonstration of the general character of the ice bridge growth on poly(dimethyl siloxane)(PDMS) soft substrates with different elasticity and on hard polymer substrates.. Image: Dr. Julien Petit, Center of Smart Interfaces

Scientists investigated condensation frosting on soft polymer gel substrates

From aeronautics to power transmission lines or the efficiency of wind turbines – preventing or delaying the frost formation on surfaces is of significant importance in many applications. Scientists from the Center of Smart Interfaces have demonstrated the ability of soft substrates to delay more frost formation compared to other solid surfaces.

    Calendar Image for January 2014

Again, it is a pleasure to present the 2014 Center of Smart Interfaces (CSI) calendar. This is our opportunity to provide a visualized snapshot of our research throughout the past year. As in the past years, our images cover a wide spectrum of research on interface flows: numerical simulations, theoretical predictions and experimental investigations.

HiWi/Bachelor Arbeit „Herstellung neuer dielektrischen Elastomeraktoren“
