    Short Course on Atomization and Sprays

    February 19-22, 2018

    The Profile Area TFI organizes a new edition of the Short Course on Atomization and Sprays, to be held February 19-22, 2018. The course has the aim to present the current understanding and state-of-the-art of atomization fundamentals, their realization in atomizer systems and their application in a wide variety of engineering branches, including spray drying, spray coating, spray cooling, fuel injection, etc.

    Highly accurate algorithms for flow simulation

    Florian Kummer awarded Prize of the Adolf Messer Foundation 2017

    He has achieved a leading position in the development of high order, high accurate flow simulation methods: Dr. Florian Kummer from the Institute for Fluid Dynamics (Department of Mechanical Engineering) has been awarded the Prize of the Adolf Messer Foundation 2017. The award, which comes with € 50,000 prize money, is the most important award for research projects at the TU Darmstadt.

    CRC TRR 75 awarded another four-year funding period

    On November 24, 2017, the German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the extension of the Collaborative Research Center Transregio “Droplet Dynamics Under Extreme Ambient Conditions” (CRC TRR 75) and with that has confirmed the successful work of the first two funding periods.

    The illuminated buttons on bus doors can be difficult for older passengers to see, especially at night. An innovative printing process is being developed at the TU Darmstadt in co-operation with a bus manufacturer for buttons that shine brightly without dazzling.

    Centre for Predictive Thermofluids one of two planned clusters

    The TU Darmstadt has successfully entered the first stage of the competitive process for the Clusters of Excellence funding line: It is invited to submit full proposals for their projects “Centre for Predictive Thermofluids – Accelerating the Energiewende” and “Data Analysis for the Humanities” by March 2018. The decision was made by an international committee of experts in Bonn, Germany. A total of 195 draft proposals were reviewed of which 88 were nominated for the next round.
