    Alternative access to Elsevier journals

Institutional access to articles published after 31 Dec 2017 no longer possilbe

The institutional access for members of the TU Darmstadt to articles in Elsevier journals published after 31 December 2017 is no longer possible. The ULB has established an „Elsevier Service Group“ which will procure scientific papers from Elsevier formerly available in full text on alternative ways (interlibrary loan, commercial document delivery services, open access publications).

How gold-doped polymer brushes become pH-sensitive

Doping polymer brushes with gold nanoparticles results in a switchable composite material which changes its thickness depending on the pH value. The research by physicists at the TU Darmstadt, published in the journal Soft Matter, could be used to design chemical nanosensors in diagnostics or environmental analytics.

DFG approves further funding of CRC TRR 146

The properties of soft materials are determined by an intricate interplay of energy and entropy, and minute changes of molecular interactions may lead to massive changes of the system's macroscopic properties. Image: CPC

TRR 146 "Multiscale Simulation Methods for Soft Matter Systems"

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved four more years of funding for the CRC 146 Multiscale Simulation Methods for Soft Matter Systems. The collaborative research center teams up scientists from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the TU Darmstadt and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research.
