    Developing intelligent surfaces from soft matter

    Regine von Klitzing's research objects are neither clearly liquid nor clearly solid, but a mixture of the two. The physics professor and her team want to develop functional coatings and “switchable” foams from this “soft material”.

    In der Deutschen Strömungsmechanischen Arbeitsgemeinschaft (STAB) sind alle wichtigen Gebiete der Strömungsmechanik – insbesondere die der Luft- und Raumfahrt – aus Grundlagenforschung, Großforschung und Industrie in Deutschland zusammengeschlossen. Das STAB Symposium setzt sich zum Ziel, den fachlichen Austausch im Rahmen einer Konferenz anzuregen und die aktuelle Forschung zu fördern. Es findet vom 06. bis 07.11. 2018 in Darmstadt statt.

    Highly accurate algorithms for flow simulation

    Florian Kummer awarded Prize of the Adolf Messer Foundation 2017

    He has achieved a leading position in the development of high order, high accurate flow simulation methods: Dr. Florian Kummer from the Institute for Fluid Dynamics (Department of Mechanical Engineering) has been awarded the Prize of the Adolf Messer Foundation 2017. The award, which comes with € 50,000 prize money, is the most important award for research projects at the TU Darmstadt.

    "Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Multi-Component Single- and Two-Phase Fluid Systems"

    Am 7. Dezember wird an der Graduate School of Computational Engineering der TU Darmstadt, die im Rahmen der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder gegründet wurde, zum fünften Mal der PhD-Award für die beste im Vorjahr abgeschlossene Promotion verliehen. Er geht in diesem Jahr an Dr.-Ing. Paul Stephan Weber für seine Dissertation mit dem Titel „Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Multi-Component Single- and Two-Phase Fluid Systems“.

    CRC TRR 75 awarded another four-year funding period

    On November 24, 2017, the German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the extension of the Collaborative Research Center Transregio “Droplet Dynamics Under Extreme Ambient Conditions” (CRC TRR 75) and with that has confirmed the successful work of the first two funding periods.
