    Athene-Fachbereichspreis für Forschungsgruppe HTPD

    Vermittlung fächerübergreifenden Praxiswissens ausgezeichnet

    Die Forschungsgruppe High Temperature Process Diagnostics (HTPD) ist am 21.11. 2017 mit dem Athene-Fachbereichspreis Maschinenbau ausgezeichnet worden. Die von Dr. Steven Wagner geleitete Gruppe erhielt den Preis für die Vermittlung fächerübergreifenden Praxiswissens in der industriellen Messtechnik mittels Hands-on-Projekten.

    Impressions from the Short Course on Complex Wetting

    From October 11-13, 2017, a Short Course on Complex Wetting was held at TU Darmstadt. Twelve internationally renowned experts in the field presented the fundamentals and industrial applications of wetting phenomena.     Numerische Simulationen zeigen: Transportprozesse führen zu Anreicherung

    Forscher der TU Darmstadt untersuchen und simulieren Prozesse von Verbrennungsmotoren. Ihre jüngsten Ergebnisse haben sie in zwei Aufsätzen der Fachzeitschrift „Combustion and Flame“ publiziert. Die Studien sind sowohl für die Automobilindustrie als auch für Konstrukteure von Flugzeugtriebwerken relevant.

    Innovative printing process makes buttons shine brightly without dazzling

    The illuminated buttons on bus doors can be difficult for older passengers to see, especially at night. An innovative printing process is being developed at the TU Darmstadt in co-operation with a bus manufacturer for buttons that shine brightly without dazzling.

    Centre for Predictive Thermofluids one of two planned clusters

    The TU Darmstadt has successfully entered the first stage of the competitive process for the Clusters of Excellence funding line: It is invited to submit full proposals for their projects “Centre for Predictive Thermofluids – Accelerating the Energiewende” and “Data Analysis for the Humanities” by March 2018. The decision was made by an international committee of experts in Bonn, Germany. A total of 195 draft proposals were reviewed of which 88 were nominated for the next round.

    Annette Andrieu-Brunsen and Regine von Klitzing awarded

    Two scientists from the TU Darmstadt have been honored by the German Colloid Society: Prof. Dr. Regine von Klitzing (Soft Matter at Interfaces) was awarded the Liesegang Award. Jr.Prof. Dr. Annette Andrieu-Brunsen was awarded a Zsigmondy Scholarship.

    Short Course on Atomization and Sprays

    February 19-22, 2018

    The Profile Area TFI organizes a new edition of the Short Course on Atomization and Sprays, to be held February 19-22, 2018. The course has the aim to present the current understanding and state-of-the-art of atomization fundamentals, their realization in atomizer systems and their application in a wide variety of engineering branches, including spray drying, spray coating, spray cooling, fuel injection, etc.

    2017 Humboldt rankings confirm TU Darmstadt’s top spots

    International engineers really like spending their research stay at TU Darmstadt. This was evident in the renowned Alexander von Humboldt Foundation rankings that were published today. Once again, the university of technology claimed first place in the whole of Germany for guest researcher numbers.
