    Team of ITN CoWet awarded Ralf Dahrendorf Prize 2019

    The team of the ITN CoWet have been awarded the Ralf Dahrendorf Prize for the European Research Area. With this new prize the Federal Ministry of Education and Research honours excellent projects funded within the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The prize money of up to 50,000 euros is designated for science communication projects.

    Neue Erkenntnisse zur NS-Zeit: Alarich-Weiss-Straße und Georgii-Platz werden umbenannt

    Die Technische Universität Darmstadt ist bestürzt angesichts neuer Erkenntnisse der Geschichtsforschung, die ein neues Licht auf den Chemiker Alarich Weiss werfen und den Wissenschaftler Walter Georgii klar bewerten: Während Weiss seine Biografie in der Nachkriegszeit verschleierte, war Georgii in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus eng in die kriegsvorbereitende Rüstungsforschung eingebunden. Die TU Darmstadt wird aus den jüngsten Rechercheergebnissen der Historiker unmittelbar Konsequenzen ziehen.

    The mission continues

    TU Darmstadt and ESA conclude cooperation agreement

    TU Darmstadt and the European Space Agency (ESA) will in future be cooperating even more closely. TU President Professor Hans Jürgen Prömel and ESA General Director Professor Johann-Dietrich Wörner have signed a corresponding “Memorandum of Collaboration”.

    Functional surfaces with special wettability: Design and applications

    Talk by Pavel Levkin (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)

    On June 28, 2019, Dr. Pavel Levkin who heads the Biofunctional Materials research group at KIT will give an overview of the work on porous polymers with controlled surface topography and wettability and will present the group's developments in the field of bioinspired surfaces and materials possessing special wettabilities.

    Research project NAMOSYN

    Sustainable mobility through synthetic fuels

    Researchers from four mechanical engineering research groups at TU Darmstadt have submitted funding proposals for the research project NAMOSYN (“sustainable mobility through synthetic fuels”). The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. According to the research initiative's summary, 25 industrial partners, 15 research institutions and seven associations will team up for NAMOSYN.
